Yr 12 Business Studies

This course is made up of four parts: Business Management, Team Work, Workplace Communication and Introduction to Computing.

The approach taken in these courses is one of applied learning - that is - you apply the concepts learnt in class to real life  situations - maybe where you work or the school itself in the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES).

Workplace Communication and Introduction to Computing  are  papers (10 credits each) for the NZIM Certificate in Management  - more detail on this below or use the NZIM button on the right to go to their website. They also provide 10 credits each for NCEA Level 2 Certificate.

All papers are completely internally asessed so it is essential that you complete the requirements by due times.

The New Zealand Institute of Management (NZIM) is a national provider of management qualifications. NZIM courses are offered by all the Tertiary Technical Institutes and are recognised by employers as valuable qualifications.

The NZIM Certificate of Management  is a qualification offered in secondary schools and involves 4 compulsory and 4 optional papers. These papers are also recognised for credit to the NCEA Level 2 or 3 Certificate at 10 credits each.

Students can gain 4 compulsory List A papers by taking Year 12 & 13 Business Studies
Yr 12 Business Studies also provides another paper Introduction to Computing, for the certificate.

Another 2 List B papers can also be cross-credited from passes in specific standards in 12 Accounting and  12 Economics

Students performing well in Certificate can gain up to two credits towards the NZIM Diploma in Management and the NZ Diploma in Business which are two of the most common tertiary qualifications studied.
