Rosehill College has a full-time RTLB whose role is to
“work within schools … to provide advice and guidance to teachers of students who are at risk of low achievement due to learning and/or behaviour difficulties.” (Ministry of Education website, 2005).
The key points are that:
1. The advice and guidance is provided to teachers.
2. The students are at risk of low achievement.
3. The students have learning or behaviour difficulties
Areas of Support
From this description, there are three areas where I can provide support for teachers:
1. Working with teachers and their students to help the students manage their own behaviour and their learning.
2. Working with teachers to assist them to adapt the curriculum to an appropriate level for students, or management strategies to solve problems presented by some student behaviour.
3. Providing professional development in the areas of teaching strategies, curriculum adaptation and behaviour management strategies.
