-Performing Arts Technology

year outline 2010

Performing Arts Technology is assessed using level 3 unit standards. All your assignments will gain you unit standard credits if completed to the required level.

If you are absent for any assessment, or are unable to hand in an assignment due to illness, you must supply a doctors certificate or pink slip from your HOH.

You are expected to put effort and energy into this subject – PAT is a course involving lots of practical work which will require extra time and input.

term one

weeks one – three the design process

You will look into the theories of design and experiment with light, colour, texture and symbol. This will set you up for the design tasks to come.

weeks four – ten costume design

You will learn about costume design for film, theatre and television. We will read a text in class and you will create design concepts, drawings and mock-ups for this play.

term two

weeks one – eight make up design

Term two concentrates on make-up artistry. Learning basic techniques through to advanced use of wax and latex. You will practice on your classmates and create a portfolio of character faces.

Weeks 9 & 10 term 2, and weeks 1 – 4 & 8 -- 9 term 3

lighting design

Term three will involve working on theatre lighting and design. You will learn all about lighting systems and luminaries, make your own gobo and learn how to programme and operate the school's lighting desk. You will design, rig and operate for a public performance in term 4.

Create and present a performance piece for a specific audience

 

As a class we will research & create a drama production for a chosen audience. You will perform in the production and operate the lights for the lighting unit standard
