Welcome back to Term 3 and I hope all are rested and ready for a term of solid academic work. We look forward to the school production, Grease, which is being performed at the Hawkins Centre in week 3. Many students and staff members are involved and I know this will be a most enjoyable show performed to a very high standard. It is with great sadness that I acknowledge the death of Ms Nippard who was second in charge in our art department. She died unexpectedly on July 7 from unknown causes and our thoughts are with her family. A private service was held for family during the holidays. Ms Nippard has been a teacher at Rosehill since 2007, and had previously taught at Strathallan, Pukekohe, and Papakura High as well as other south Auckland schools. She brought innovative ideas to the department, had great attention to detail and pushed her students to achieve personal excellence. She will be missed by all of us. We know and understand that for some students this may be especially hard news, and our counsellors in Student Support are available to talk with students who feel unable to manage in class. We will have a memorial for Ms Nippard in the Art Department after school on Wednesday 28 July. This week, the Acting Associate Principal and I will be visiting our partner schools to begin the enrolment process for students entering Year 9 in 2011. Students will be issued with enrolment packs during the visits. If you wish to make an out of zone enrolment application, please contact the School Office. NCEA fees for students in Years 11-13 are now payable. The fee is $75 per student ($375 for international students). Financial assistance forms are available from the Student Office. See http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/for-students/fees/financialassistance.html for further details. COUNTIES MANUKAU COMMUNITY EDUCATION
